The earth is a beehive; we all enter by the same door but live in different cells.

AFRICA NEEDS NETS NOT FISH

The continent of Africa is a continent of great hope but with also a lot of despair surrounding its clouds. It is a continent where early science made revealing discoveries yet it is a continent where modern science and technology is yet to impact in any meaningful sense on the citizenry. It is also a continent where even though there is the most arable land for cultivation, land as fertile as the 'Fertile Crescent' and as promising as the lands between the Rivers Tigris and Euphrates, yet feeding 70% of Africa's ever-growing population is an issue. In the colonial era, Africa exported food and imported manufactures from Europe. Yet in the post -colonial era, Africa imports both food and manufactures.

This is largely due to the inability to go beyond subsistence agriculture. The world over, except Africa, the buzzword is mechanized farming. Until Africa's agriculture becomes fully mechanized in all its ramifications, food will continue to a major problem on that continent. It is good to give Africa fish, but it is a lot better to show Africa how to fish, so that Africans can continue to cultivate fish on a sustainable basis and feed its population. The insecurity of food in Africa is as threatening as the weapons of mass destruction in the hands of an unpredictable leader.

There is the urgent need, therefore, for Africa to rise up to the occasion of its food requirements, more so in the wake of globalisation with its threatening marginalization of Africa. Globalisation has brought in its wake several challenges to the continent of Africa, one of which, definitely, is not only to be able to feed its populations, but also, export food on a competitive basis, to other parts of the world including Europe and America to earn foreign exchange for other developmental needs.

It is in this connection that initiatives like the one provided by Ultimate Green Solution should be found handy. The Ultimate Green Solution is determined to assist interested countries of Africa with access to the know-how in advanced agricultural technology from cultivation through extension services, storage, animal breeding including artificial insemination, fishing and honey bee production, to bumper harvesting. Let there be food for all!
